Orthodontic Treatment in Downtown Colorado Springs - 80903
Orthodontic treatments in Downtown Colorado Springs 80903 are the processes used to straighten teeth, correct bites, and improve the appearance of the smile. While some adults prefer orthodontic care to correct their smiles, it’s also necessary for children. While babies have primary or “baby” teeth, those teeth will eventually fall out and be replaced by permanent adult teeth. If a child’s teeth are crooked or crowded, it can lead to difficulty chewing food properly and speaking clearly. By treating crooked teeth and a bad bite, orthodontic treatments in Downtown Colorado Springs 80903 can improve overall health and the well-being of your child.
A common misconception is that braces are only for children. Today, more adults than ever are receiving orthodontic care. Braces are lighter and more discreet than ever before, making them a popular solution for many adults who desire straighter teeth and improved oral health. In fact, the American Association of Orthodontists estimates that one in five orthodontic patients is over the age of 21! There are many treatment options that fall under the category of orthodontics.
These treatments include traditional metal braces, clear braces, Invisalign clear aligners, and even retainers. All of these methods work to move teeth into proper alignment. They address crooked teeth, gaps between teeth, and misaligned bites by slowly and gently pushing natural teeth into the proper position over time with gentle pressure. On average, treatment takes anywhere from six months to two years to complete depending on the complexity of the case. If you are ready for a straighter smile and better oral health, then it’s time to talk to our dentist in Downtown Colorado Springs 80903 about your options!
Types of Orthodontic Treatments in Downtown Colorado Springs 80903
Fixed braces in Downtown Colorado Springs 80903: These are traditional metal braces that are applied to the front of your teeth and tightened with wires and rubber bands. These devices are very effective for correcting alignment issues but can be difficult to keep clean.
Clear Braces in Downtown Colorado Springs 80903: These brackets are made out of white ceramic material, which makes them completely invisible from view. They are essentially just like traditional metal braces, except they are tooth-colored and do not have a prominent metal appearance. Patients love these braces because they can be aesthetically appealing while still maintaining their effectiveness at correcting and preventing orthodontic issues.
Retainers in Downtown Colorado Springs 80903: If you undergo any orthodontic treatment, you will need to be fitted for a retainer to wear once the braces come off. The retention phase is very important because it keeps your teeth from shifting back to their original positions after you are done with the active phase of treatment.
How are clear ceramic braces in Downtown Colorado Springs 80903 placed?
While fitting for traditional braces, our dentist in Downtown Colorado Springs 80903 will take impressions of your teeth to send to the laboratory, where your custom brackets will be made. Once the brackets are fabricated, you will return to our office to have them placed on each tooth. With ceramic braces, the brackets will be bonded to each tooth directly without the need for impressions to be sent to the lab ahead of time. The bonding procedure takes just a few minutes per tooth and requires no anesthetic. Once your teeth are prepped, and the brackets are bonded on, you will be free to leave our office with your new smile!
There are several benefits that come with using clear ceramic braces. Since they are smaller and less noticeable than metal brackets, patients find them to be more comfortable overall. These braces do not require the use of elastic ties, which cause irritation in the mouth. Patients who have sensitive teeth and gums tend to prefer clear braces over traditional metal braces to avoid this irritation. In addition, these braces tend to be less expensive than their metal counterparts.
