When Are Traditional Dentures Recommended?
Traditional dentures are recommended when all the teeth are missing or all of the teeth are in poor condition and cannot be restored. Since traditional dentures are removable, patients can remove them before sleeping. They require daily cleaning and care from a dentist or hygienist and must be replaced every few years.
How Are Dentures Made?
At North End Dental, we will conduct a thorough examination of your jaw, teeth, and gums and determine whether or not you are a good candidate for traditional dentures.
Your temporary dentures will allow you to eat and speak normally and let you experience the look and feel of traditional dentures.
Once your jaw has healed, our dentist will design and create your permanent dentures, customizing them to fit your mouth perfectly. Once your dentures are ready, we will place them in your mouth and make any final adjustments.
Your dentures may feel different at first, but you will get used to them quickly.
You should practice talking and eating with your dentures in the first few days. This will help you get used to them.
As you adjust to your new dentures, please take all medications as prescribed. Do not make any changes to how you use your dentures without talking to your dentist first.
How Do I Care for My Dentures?
Traditional dentures should be brushed daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste. They should be rinsed after each meal. Most importantly, they should be removed before you sleep and placed inside a denture-soaking solution or water.
